What's New?

TravelInBC.com is Upgraded
At the beginning of December, we added pages to www.travelinbc.com to improve the exposure of our growing client list. In the past, everything that wasn't on Vancouver Island or the Lower Mainland was dubbed "the Interior". This covered a zillion sq. km of highly diverse territory. Our clients in places like the Cariboo wanted site visitors to find them more easily. The Vancouver Island page has been split up as well because of the growth in clients on the Island. We decided for consistency (and sanity) that we would follow provincial standards of marketing area boundaries.

We are looking forward to more changes including maps in the first quarter of 2004 as well as other aids for travellers. Feedback is always appreciated, especially if you have ideas to improve the site for visitors, or spot errors – be they typos or mistakes about the various locations.

Quokka Systems thinks kid friendly!™.

Kid Friendly logo In December, to kid friendly!™ Services Corp and Quokka Systems signed a marketing affiliation agreement. kidfriendly.org is a great place to highlight the fact that your business has services and facilities that make a difference to families. Part of the excitement at Quokka Systems is that the president has a two year old, the lead programmer has a baby on the way and the documentation expert became a Mom just this past year. All of these people are in the "over 30" demographic, are more established in their careers, and are looking for ways to make life easier and reduce trips to the chiropractor.

By early January, those clients of ours who are participants of kid friendly!™ will have book now links put on the kidfriendly.org site.

There are three levels that business can obtain, specifically, kid friendly, very kid friendly and completely kid friendly. This ranges from some obvious standards to interesting ideas like a family parking space. Anyone who's tried to pull a child out of a car seat after parking in a tiny downtown Vancouver parking spot can attest to the value of this. For more detail, Cheryl at kid friendly!™ can help you determine what level you are.

Please also look at our feature article which examines how being members of such programs can positively impact your overall Internet marketing strategy.

Offer Exceptions -- a new way to reduce your workload
In the past with the Quokka Online Booking System, when you had to change prices for specific days that were in the middle of a price date range, you had to break the offer into pieces. Now the system automates that process for you. Once you have loaded your base rates, you can input date specific exceptions to those rates. We are enabling this advanced feature one client at a time. If you feel this would be useful to you please contact your support representative for training.
