AccomEx '02 in Kamloops

On October 23, Quokka Systems was pleased to be a presenter and to run a booth for the AccomEx '02 show. Organized by the BC Lodging and Campgrounds Association this industry convention was held at Forester's Convention Centre in Kamloops.

As BCLCA's official web booking system, as well as being a member, we felt it important to be in Kamloops and be in front of our clients and prospective clients.
Robert Ford had the opportunity to be part of a round table of presentations discussing "Marketing out of the Box." It was a chance to explain what online booking was for the many lodging and campground operators who are new to Internet marketing. There are many people who are not only new to the Web, but also regularly confused and sometimes apprehensive. Vendors like Quokka Systems have a long way to go to make the online environment coherent and safe.

Because of this, the presentation by Robert defined online booking as "the last step that a guest, who has found you using a computer, takes to complete the choice of staying with you". To see the complete PowerPoint presentation, click here.

The trade show itself was on October 24, and gave us the opportunity to meet and discuss the online booking system with many people. In the hope of clarifying how it all worked, we learned one important thing - our clients have a lot to worry about. Our fellow vendors included bedding companies, sewage treatment firms and industrial washing machine vendors. When we noted that other sessions at the conference were dealing with legal issues and how to assess the dangers of trees on your properties, we felt put in our place. And it increased our resolve to work hard to make sure the Quokka Online Booking System actually does make life easier and not harder.
