Online Bookings for Campgrounds and RV Parks


June 2002 witnessed the launch of Quokka Systems' campground and RV Park component to the Quokka Online Booking System - a distinction because, when compared to lodgings, there are fewer systems for campgrounds and RV parks to use for online bookings.

Campgrounds or RV Parks can put out a selection of their sites, with meaningful descriptions so that their guests can book and confirm the site via the Internet. This means that - for example - people in Germany planning their tour across BC can confirm their sites well in advance without having to play phone or email tag with the campground or RV Park operators.

Because of the perceived low yield on campground bookings, the benefits of using online technology must be made clear.

Perhaps even more than lodgings, operators of private campgrounds and RV Parks are people who do everything from cutting the grass, to felling dangerous trees, to doing tax returns. Anything that can help reduce administration is appreciated. One of the unexpected side effects of the Internet was that email, known as the "killer application", turned out to be a time killer. With so much email, it's easier than ever to lose important correspondence in the morass of spam and the latest jokes from the family. The Quokka Online Booking System allows visitors to your web site to look up rates and availability themselves.
