Quokka Systems has always had strict policies about data security and privacy in order to ensure business integrity for our clients and their customers.
Quokka Systems operates in compliance with the federal Personal Information Protection ffand Electronic Documents Act (Canada). All personal information required for an online reservation is collected through a secure, encrypted, industry standard, 128-bit SSL (Secure Socket Layer) protocol. The reservation data is provided electronically, through this same system, to the Fulfilling Business.
When you book online you will be required to provide contact and payment information so that the Fulfilling Business can process your request. Quokka Systems securely passes this information to the Fulfilling Business so that it may complete your transaction. If you choose not to provide requested personal information, you will not be able to complete your booking transaction through the Quokka Online Booking System.
With your consent, the Fulfilling Business may send you, from time to time, email or other communications regarding special rate promotions at that property. You may decline to receive such promotions. Quokka Systems only collects the information required to make an online booking and retains the information only as long as is required to enable a booking transaction to be completed or to meet legal requirements. We ask for your express consent to retain your personal information in order to enable repeat bookings at a property.
Credit card information is retained in an encrypted fashion only long enough for your booking to be processed by the Fulfilling Business. We destroy your credit card information when it is no longer needed.
You can request that we remove your information from the Quokka Online Booking System's records. Subject to our requirements for continued retention of your information, for example, for billing or audit purposes, we will make every reasonable effort to honour your request. Access to your personal information is available through our system, from the Fulfilling Business' website from which you originally made your booking. You must identify yourself with your ID and password or answer challenge prompts to be permitted access. If you cannot access the system for whatever reason and wish to access or change your personal data, please contact the Privacy Officer listed below. We will only grant access to personal information and accept changes if we have confirmed the identity of the person making the request. When you change your information on our system, we notify the Fulfilling Business.
Quokka Systems is responsible for all personal information under its control. In entering into contracts with Fulfilling Businesses, Quokka Systems includes specific provisions regarding the security and privacy of personal information held by Fulfilling Businesses. We take all possible means to provide a comparable level of protection while the information is being processed by the Fulfilling Business, including retaining the right to refuse service if we feel personal data is not being handled to the standards of the legislation.
